New Delhi – The upcoming World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025, scheduled to take place from May 1 to May 4 in Mumbai, is set to put the spotlight on India’s rapidly growing creator economy. Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, emphasized the significance of the event while addressing the media, highlighting how the Digital India initiative has laid the foundation for this cultural and economic shift.

“A very strong creator economy is forming in the country because Digital India has brought digital technologies to every corner of the country,” said Vaishnaw. “Due to this, youth in even the smallest of villages are receiving opportunities.”

The minister added that the WAVES summit aims to structure and amplify these opportunities by bringing together creators, investors, and industry leaders on a single platform. According to Vaishnaw, the global interest in India’s digital and entertainment sectors is rising rapidly, with investors from around the world expressing a desire to fund the creative economy.
