Kiren Rijiju Welcomes Support for Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024 from Muslim Community Leaders

New Delhi: Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, has expressed his joy following the introduction of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, and the subsequent positive reception from Muslim community leaders.

In a recent statement, Rijiju said, "It is joyous that after the introduction of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, I was able to meet representatives from the Muslim community. Today, the entire team of the All India Sufi Sajjadanashin Council, under the leadership of Syed Naseruddin Chishty, met me." He noted that the provisions of the Waqf Amendment Bill were welcomed by the delegation, and they also provided suggestions regarding the demands of dargahs across India, urging the government to take note of them.

Rijiju further emphasized that the Bill ensures representation for all sections of the Muslim community and mentioned the formation of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to review the Bill. He encouraged the delegation to present their points before the JPC, stating, "It is a matter of joy for us to welcome the Bill."

The Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, aims to address various issues related to the management and administration of Waqf properties in India, ensuring better governance and inclusivity for all stakeholders.
