Delhi — Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar outlined major infrastructure projects set to transform urban transit in Haryana after a meeting with Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Saini. Speaking to reporters, Khattar confirmed that the Gurgaon Metro project, recently approved by the Cabinet, is moving forward rapidly. The tender for the project will be issued in January 2025, with construction to begin immediately afterward.
"The biggest project is the Metro lines of Gurgaon, which has been approved by the Cabinet, and its tender will be issued in January 2025. After that, work will start at a very fast pace," Khattar announced. He also revealed that two proposals are currently being studied to connect the Gurgaon Metro line to the airport.
In addition to the Gurgaon Metro, Khattar stressed the need for fast-paced work on the Metro line connecting Bahadurgarh to Asaudah. He also discussed the sanctioned Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) line from Sarai Kale Khan to Panipat, proposing its extension to Karnal, which has received approval.
"As Haryana CM, I had announced a metro line from Gurugram to Faridabad, but the RRTS feasibility is higher. This will not only extend from Gurugram to Faridabad but also connect to Jewar Airport's RRTS," Khattar explained.
He emphasized that these projects are part of a broader vision to create an extensive Metro and RRTS network in Haryana over the next five years, which will significantly enhance connectivity and boost regional development.
