Bhubaneswar: In a heated discussion in the Assembly over the alleged mismanagement during this year's Rath Yatra, Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan staunchly defended the conduct of the festival, accusing the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) of raising unwarranted concerns.

Harichandan stated, "There are thousands of instances when BJD in the last many years violated the rituals of Shri Jagannath temple and Lord Jagannath. This year the car festival was celebrated with maximum discipline and integrity. The Jagannath devotees praised the way in which the car festival was conducted this year."

He further criticized the BJD's approach, saying, "With a political motive, they raised questions but did not have the patience to hear the answers."
