Bhubaneshwar: Odisha Minister Prithviraj Harichandan has raised concerns regarding uniformity in the observance of Jagannath Temple rituals globally. Speaking on ISKCON's recent advisory, Harichandan noted that the headquarters of ISKCON issued clear instructions in 2022, mandating that festivals and rituals of Lord Jagannath, including those of the Chaturdha Murti, adhere to traditions observed at the Mahaprabhu Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri.
Commenting on recent developments, Harichandan expressed disappointment over a decision by an ISKCON-affiliated temple in Houston to conduct an untimely Snan Yatra and Rath Yatra. "The Chairman of the Sri Jagannath Temple Managing Committee has sent a request to both the ISKCON headquarters and the Houston temple, urging them to reconsider," he stated.
Harichandan emphasized the importance of “coordinated co-existence” among institutions observing Jagannath culture worldwide, encouraging a unified approach to ritual practices. This, he believes, will preserve the sanctity and authenticity of these age-old traditions across all ISKCON-affiliated and other temples dedicated to Lord Jagannath.
