Bhubaneswar: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, along with BJP MP from Odisha, Balabhadra Majhi, has addressed the state's long-standing demand for a new railway division in Rayagada. This move ensures that the districts of Koraput, Rayagada, and Gajapati will remain within the East Coast Railway Zone and not be included in the South Coast Railway Zone.

Minister Vaishnaw stated, "Odisha's demand regarding the East Coast has been approved, and a new railway division will be formed in Rayagada." He also confirmed that while the South Coast Zone has already been sanctioned, the detailed project report (DPR) is yet to be sanctioned. The division within the South Coast Zone has also been sanctioned.

Balabhadra Majhi highlighted the significance of this decision for Odisha, emphasizing the state's commitment to retaining these key districts within the East Coast Railway Zone for better administrative efficiency and development.
