Wellington Cantonment, Tamil Nadu: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh addressed officers of the Indian Armed Forces and friendly foreign nations during the Convocation Ceremony of the 80th Staff Course at the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) in Wellington on Thursday.

In his keynote speech, Singh emphasized the government’s ongoing commitment to transform the Indian military into a technologically-advanced and combat-ready force. “Building an indigenous, future-ready defence ecosystem is not only an aspiration but a strategic necessity,” he asserted.

Highlighting the evolving nature of modern warfare, Singh said today’s battlespaces demand jointness across services and operational preparedness in multi-domain environments. “The Armed Forces must operate jointly and remain future-ready in today’s ever-evolving battlefield, which spans land, sea, air, cyber, and space,” he added.

The 80th Staff Course saw participation from officers of India’s Army, Navy, and Air Force, as well as delegations from several friendly foreign nations. Singh’s address marked a significant moment in India’s push for self-reliance and modernization in defence.
