GORAKHPUR, UTTAR PRADESH — Gautam Gupta, the Disaster Specialist for Gorakhpur district, reported that the Saryu and Rapti rivers are currently flowing above the danger mark, causing widespread concern. However, there is some relief in sight as the water level of the Rapti River has started to decrease, and it is expected to fall below the danger mark within the next 2-3 days.

As a result of the flooding, 45 villages in Gorakhpur have been fully or partially affected. In response, district authorities have deployed boats and motor boats to help residents navigate flooded areas. Boats are also being operated in urban regions to ensure the safety and accessibility of those impacted by the rising waters.
