New Delhi: BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla has sharply criticized Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav for his remarks on Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Poonawalla accused Yadav of making inappropriate comments that undermine the unity of India and questioned the Congress party's alliance with the RJD.

Tejashwi Yadav had referred to Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma as a "Chinese version" due to his birthplace in Assam. Poonawalla responded by saying, "Tejashwi Yadav said that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is the 'Chinese version' just because he was born in Assam. Has Sam Pitroda's spirit entered Tejashwi Yadav?"

He further criticized the INDI alliance, which includes the RJD, for allegedly disrespecting the Constitution and insulting individuals based on their origins. "It is the character of the INDI alliance to not respect the Constitution and insult every person," Poonawalla stated, pointing out what he sees as a pattern of divisive rhetoric from the alliance.

Poonawalla also called out Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who recently started the second part of his Bharat Jodo Yatra from the Northeast, asking him to clarify his stance on Yadav's remarks. "Rahul Gandhi should tell whether this is a statement to unite India?" he questioned, implying that such comments do not align with the spirit of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, which aims to promote unity across the country.

Additionally, he demanded a response from Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Gaurav Gogoi on whether they intend to continue their alliance with the RJD following Yadav's controversial statement. "On this, Rahul Gandhi and Gaurav Gogoi should say when will they (Congress) break ties with RJD?" Poonawalla concluded.
