By A Staff Reporter — Mumbai, Maharashtra: Shiv Sena MP Naresh Mhaske has raised concerns over the Congress party's promises during the last Lok Sabha elections, accusing it of gaining votes through "fake narratives." Mhaske claims that despite promises made, Congress has not taken significant action to fulfill these commitments in the states where it currently governs. His criticism comes as Maharashtra gears up for a possible shift in leadership, with the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition, consisting of Congress, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) faction, vying for control.
Mhaske’s statements follow remarks made by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, which he interprets as a sign that the MVA coalition might put an end to the Ladli Behan Yojana if it takes office. The Ladli Behan Yojana, implemented under the current Mahayuti government, has gained traction as a key initiative aimed at empowering women across Maharashtra. Under the scheme, women receive financial assistance and various resources intended to improve their quality of life, an approach widely appreciated by the public.
The possibility of discontinuing the program, according to Mhaske, could result in setbacks for thousands of beneficiaries. He urged Maharashtra’s electorate to consider this risk when voting, emphasizing that the Mahayuti government’s efforts to empower women through initiatives like the Ladli Behan Yojana should not be overlooked. Mhaske’s comments add to a growing discourse on women’s welfare as a priority issue in the state’s political arena.
