Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Arvind Sawant expressed confusion over the Election Commission's decision to conduct Maharashtra Assembly elections in a single phase for 288 seats while Jharkhand elections will be held in two phases for 90 seats. Speaking after the announcement of the election dates, Sawant questioned the rationale behind this arrangement.
“I don’t understand what is the reason behind such an arrangement by the Election Commission,” said Sawant.
He added that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition will contest the upcoming elections with full strength and confidence. Referring to the performance of the ruling BJP in recent Lok Sabha elections, Sawant claimed that people are increasingly disillusioned with the BJP.
“People have already taught them a lesson in the Lok Sabha elections, and this time they are even more upset. Their anger will be reflected in the Assembly elections,” Sawant remarked.
He concluded by asserting that the MVA would emerge victorious in the upcoming elections with a "huge majority," signaling a tough contest for the BJP in Maharashtra.
