New Delhi: Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi has expressed her heartfelt condolences on the passing of Sitaram Yechury, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and former Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament. In her statement, Gandhi paid tribute to Yechury’s unwavering commitment to the country's constitutional values and their years of camaraderie.

"I am very saddened by the passing away of Sitaram Yechury," said Gandhi, recalling the close working relationship they had developed during 2004-2008. "We had worked closely together to begin with, and the friendship that had been established then continued till his very end," she added, emphasizing the deep bond they shared.

Gandhi also highlighted Yechury’s dedication to the core values enshrined in the Indian Constitution. Yechury, a prominent figure in Indian politics, was known for his principled stand on various issues and his leadership within the Left movement. His contributions to political thought and action in India remain widely respected.
