Kolkata, West Bengal | West Bengal Leader of Opposition and BJP MLA Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday alleged that the state government has been conducting an illegal survey on Other Backward Classes (OBC) without any official notification or order.

“The state government has been conducting an illegal OBC survey since March 10, which has neither any notification nor any order. The survey is being conducted to please a particular vote bank. It is unconstitutional, illegal, and directly challenges the judiciary,” Adhikari claimed.

He further alleged that the survey is being selectively carried out among the Muslim community in preparation for the 2026 elections while neglecting Hindu OBCs. “No jobs are being given to people from the Hindu OBC community,” he added.

His remarks come amid heightened political tensions over reservation policies and alleged favoritism in welfare schemes. The West Bengal government has not yet responded to the allegations, but the issue is expected to spark further debate in the state’s political landscape.
