CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Monday underscored the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s (DMK) contributions to Chennai’s infrastructure growth, asserting that the party has played a crucial role in the city’s transformation over the years.

Speaking about the Singara Chennai 2.0 initiative, Stalin highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to improve urban infrastructure. “DMK has played a major role in the infrastructure development of Chennai from earlier days till now. Singara Chennai 2.0 projects are underway for the infrastructure development of Chennai City,” he said.

He also credited Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, who previously served as the first directly elected mayor of Greater Chennai Corporation, for laying the foundation for several key development projects. “Our leader introduced major bridges, Metro water supplies, and road facilities for Chennai’s development. Many more projects have been launched under his leadership,” he added.

The Singara Chennai 2.0 initiative aims to modernize Chennai’s infrastructure with improved road networks, stormwater drainage systems, and enhanced urban amenities. The DMK government has been focusing on smart city projects and sustainable urban planning to tackle congestion and enhance the city's livability.
