In a sharp critique during a rally in Gumla, Jharkhand, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan accused the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) of mismanagement and neglect. He raised concerns over the recent withdrawal of security for former Chief Minister Champai Soren, questioning the JMM’s decision and its potential consequences. Chauhan emphasized the importance of safeguarding the lives of former leaders, stating, "Isn't the life of a former CM important? Champai Soren's life could be in danger, and we condemn this move."
The Union Minister further accused the JMM of losing its composure in the face of electoral defeat, suggesting that the party’s actions reflected desperation. Chauhan called for immediate measures to ensure the safety of the former Chief Minister.
In addition to security concerns, Chauhan criticized the JMM for alleged corruption, particularly in the handling of central government funds allocated for development programs. He accused the party of misusing money from major schemes like MGNREGA, the PM Awas Yojana, and the Jal Jeevan Mission. According to Chauhan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had sanctioned Rs 1000 crores to provide drinking water to rural households, yet many villages still lack access to clean water.
Chauhan’s remarks underscored the growing tensions between the BJP and JMM, as he called for transparency and accountability in the state’s governance, stressing that development funds must reach the people they were intended to benefit.
