Chandigarh: The Government of India held discussions with farmer representatives in Chandigarh on Wednesday, addressing their demands and concerns over agricultural policies. Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, along with a Punjab minister, engaged in talks with members of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha for over two hours.

Following the meeting, Joshi stated, "I, on behalf of the Government of India, and the Punjab minister held a meeting with farmers today. After listening to their concerns and demands for over two hours, we mentioned steps that are being taken for the welfare of farmers under PM Modi's leadership."

He confirmed that the discussions would continue, with the next round of talks scheduled for February 22. The meeting will be led by Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, signaling the government’s intent to engage further with farmer groups.

The talks come amid renewed demands for a legal guarantee on Minimum Support Price (MSP) and other agrarian issues. With the next round of negotiations set, both sides remain engaged in finding common ground to address the ongoing concerns of farmers.
