Moga, Punjab: Addressing the persistent issue of smog in northern India, Union Minister Tokhan Sahu appealed to farmers in Punjab to adopt sustainable practices and end stubble burning. During his visit to Moga, the minister highlighted the detrimental effects of smog, pointing to stubble burning as a significant contributor to air pollution.

"There are a lot of bad effects of the smog, and it is also seen that stubble burning is one of the main reasons behind it," he stated. While in Moga, Sahu observed a bellar machine in action. He praised its ability to efficiently gather and bundle stubble, facilitating its transportation for further use, thus reducing the need for open burning.

Expressing optimism, he remarked, "I was delighted that there is a bellar machine here to gather the stubble, bundle it, and send it further. This can help stop the smog."

He concluded his visit by urging farmers to refrain from burning crop residue and adopt eco-friendly alternatives. “I want to request all farmers to not burn the stubble,” he said.

With smog levels affecting air quality and health in the region, the minister's visit underscores the government's efforts to promote sustainable agricultural practices and mitigate pollution. Farmers and stakeholders are encouraged to explore innovative solutions like stubble management machines to address the issue effectively.
