BY A STAFF REPORTER: After many struggles, our country finally became independent on August 15, 1947. Every year, the countrymen celebrate India's independence with enthusiasm. On this occasion, the brave sons and revolutionaries who sacrificed their lives for India's independence are remembered. One of them was an Indian woman revolutionary who hoisted the Indian flag abroad before independence.

Let's know about this Indian woman revolutionary who hoisted the Indian flag abroad. Vikaji Kama was born on 24 September 1861 in Bombay to a Parsi family. He had the spirit of helping people and doing something for the country. After the outbreak of plague in Mumbai in 1896, Vikaji served patients. Later, he himself was infected with the disease. Like every Indian, Vikaji Kama also dreamt of liberating the country. When people across the country were angry and agitating and satyagraha everywhere, Bhikaji Kama raised the demand for India's independence abroad. The Vikaji flag tried to consolidate the sentiments and cultures of different religions in the country. Green, yellow, and red were used to represent Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism. Also, Vande Mataram was written in Devanagari script in the middle of the flag.
