By a Staff Reporter: Urdu language in Pakistan fell on 21 February 1952 due to the movement to establish Bengali as the national language. That day is actually Bengali language day, Bengali day. Every year this 21st February is observed as International Mother Language Day worldwide. It is also known as Sahid Diwas.

Shahid Minar of Dhaka continues to carry the history of that day. Every year various programs are held here on the occasion of Language Day. The Bedi altar was decorated. Last minute preparations are going on this year too. Apart from being washed and cleaned, the Shahid Bedi is also being repainted. Government officials are looking into the work. The preparations are going on at a fast pace.
