BY A STAFF REPORTER: At least 484 children have been killed and 992 injured since Russia's full-scale offensive began marking International Children's Day in Ukraine, the prosecutor general's office said on Thursday.
The Prosecutor General's Office provides procedural guidance on more than 2,900 war-related crimes against children, murder and injury, sexual violence, attacks on institutions and facilities for children, deportation, forced displacement, and kidnapping.
Ukraine and other Eastern European post-communist countries observe June 1 as International Children's Day. Cities, schools, and community groups often organize child-centered events such as sports days and fun fairs.
Ukraine's First Lady Olena Zelenska said, "Children's Day should be about a safe childhood, summer, life. But today it is about the new crimes of the Russian Federation against Ukrainian children. A 9-year-old girl was killed in the shelling in Kiev and another is now in hospital. '
