In a significant address, Secretary East in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Jaideep Mazumdar, underscored the vital role of the ASEAN five-point consensus in addressing the political situation in Myanmar. "Many leaders emphasized the importance of this consensus," he noted, indicating a unified stance among participating nations regarding the challenges facing Myanmar.

Mazumdar reiterated the Prime Minister's stance, highlighting the necessity of engaging with Myanmar rather than isolating it. "The Prime Minister also emphasized that Myanmar should be engaged and should not be isolated. It is crucial to restore democracy in Myanmar," he stated. This reflects a broader recognition among regional leaders that collaboration is essential to foster stability and democratic governance in the country.

The ASEAN five-point consensus includes calls for an immediate cessation of violence, dialogue among all parties, humanitarian assistance, and the appointment of a special envoy to facilitate dialogue. As Myanmar grapples with ongoing conflict and political unrest, the need for cohesive action and dialogue remains paramount. The MEA's focus on engagement rather than isolation suggests a commitment to working collaboratively with ASEAN members to navigate this complex situation and promote a peaceful resolution.
