Delhi: Addressing the political turmoil in Bangladesh, BIMSTEC Secretary General Indra Mani Pandey emphasized the organization's focus on technical and economic cooperation. "BIMSTEC, by nature, has focused on technical and economic cooperation. It has stayed away from political issues and internal political developments within the member states," Pandey stated.

He assured that recent developments in Bangladesh have not affected BIMSTEC's activities. "As far as the activities under the BIMSTEC framework are concerned, these developments, so far, have had no impact and all the countries have been regularly participating in all the meetings," he added.

Highlighting recent events, Pandey said, "Recently, we had a foreign ministers' retreat in Delhi hosted by EAM Dr. S. Jaishankar, in which all the member states participated. In Naypyidaw, the capital of Myanmar, there was a meeting of national security chiefs where national security chiefs from all the member states participated."
