BY A STAFF REPORTER: The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said residents felt the quake Sunday afternoon as Southern California prepared for an unusual summer storm. The magnitude of the earthquake was 5.1.
According to the USGS, the epicentre of the quake was in Ojai, between Santa Barbara and Ventura.
The Ventura County Sheriff said there were no immediate reports of damage. The quake felt like a slow roll in Valencia, about 50 miles away, lasting about 20 seconds. Residents also reported slower effects in the Hollywood area. At least two aftershocks measuring 3.1 and 3.6 were felt after the initial quake.
