By A Staff Reporter — In a recent statement regarding the ongoing diplomatic tensions between India and Canada, recalled Indian High Commissioner Sanjay Kumar Verma emphasized that the accusations levied against India are politically motivated and lack substantive evidence. "If you look at the entire episode, we have always been maintaining that there is no shred of evidence shared with us. I feel it is largely politically motivated and an ill-conceived targeting of India," Verma stated.

Verma underscored India’s position as a responsible democracy, affirming that the nation does not engage in interference in the internal affairs of other countries. "We do not have a policy to interfere in the internal affairs of any country," he noted, highlighting the principled stance of the Indian government in international relations.

Reflecting on his tenure in Canada, Verma expressed his disappointment over the allegations that surfaced during his efforts to strengthen bilateral ties. "It was painful as I had gone there to further improve the ties between the two nations, but allegations were leveled against me," he said, conveying the emotional toll of the situation.

Moreover, Verma articulated a sense of duty to protect India's interests, stating, "I also feel that if my nation's interests are harmed, then it is my duty to protect my country." His remarks come amid heightened scrutiny and diplomatic maneuvering following allegations that have strained relations between the two nations.
