New Delhi: External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar extended a warm welcome to His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Defence of the UAE, as he began his first official visit to India.
Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Jaishankar posted, “Delighted to welcome Crown Prince of Dubai and DPM & Minister of Defence of UAE HH @HamdanMohammed at the start of his first official visit to India. The visit is seen as a significant step forward in deepening India-UAE relations, particularly in the areas of trade, investment, energy, technology, and defence collaboration. The Crown Prince’s itinerary is expected to include high-level meetings with Indian leaders and key business engagements across sectors.
India and the UAE share a long-standing relationship rooted in economic partnership, strategic interests, and strong people-to-people ties. In recent years, the two nations have expanded cooperation across a wide spectrum, including fintech, infrastructure, education, and space technology.
Analysts see the Crown Prince’s visit as a reflection of the UAE’s growing interest in strengthening ties with India, not just bilaterally but also in the context of regional and global developments. The visit also underlines the rising importance of the Gulf in India’s foreign policy matrix.
