Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu will embark on his first official state visit to India from October 7 to 10, 2024, announced MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal in a recent briefing. This marks President Muizzu's first bilateral trip to India since assuming office, though he previously visited the country in June 2024 to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the Prime Minister and council of ministers.

During his four-day visit, President Muizzu will meet with Indian officials to discuss and strengthen the bilateral relationship between the two nations. His visit underscores the close ties between India and the Maldives, with cooperation expected in key areas such as trade, infrastructure, and regional security.

In addition to his engagements in New Delhi, President Muizzu will travel to Bengaluru and Mumbai, where he is scheduled to participate in business discussions aimed at fostering economic collaboration. These meetings are expected to explore opportunities for investment and deepen economic ties between India and the Maldives.

The state visit is anticipated to further solidify the partnership between the two nations, building on their longstanding ties in the Indian Ocean region. It will also serve as an important platform for both countries to enhance cooperation in addressing shared regional challenges.

President Muizzu's visit comes at a critical time as India and the Maldives continue to collaborate on key regional issues, including security and economic development.
