In a special diplomatic gesture, the Prime Minister of Jamaica, Dr. Andrew Holness, presented a photograph to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, capturing a memorable moment from PM Modi's visit to Montego Bay, Jamaica, in 1999. At that time, PM Modi had accompanied former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee during his G-15 summit visit to Jamaica. The photograph showed PM Modi interacting with Indian diaspora members in Jamaica who had warmly welcomed him.

In a symbolic exchange of friendship, PM Modi gifted a cricket bat signed by the Indian cricket team to PM Holness, who reciprocated by presenting a bat signed by renowned Jamaican cricketer Chris Gayle. The exchange reflected the shared love for cricket between the two nations.

Adding to the significance of the occasion, Jamaican cricket star Chris Gayle and Indian Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra were special guests at a lunch hosted in honor of PM Holness, marking a unique blend of diplomacy and sportsmanship. The meeting highlighted the enduring cultural and sports ties between India and Jamaica.
