Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the lasting legacies of Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam, regarded as the Father of the Nation in Mauritius, and Sir Anerood Jugnauth, a pivotal figure in the country’s modernization. He emphasized how their vision and leadership helped shape Mauritius into a thriving democracy while strengthening ties with India.

Following the tribute, both leaders took part in a symbolic tree-planting ceremony under the initiative “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” in the historic botanic garden.
