Washington D.C.: Addressing a media query on the status of the TikTok deal, U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that the agreement remains under consideration, while indicating that China’s hesitancy continues to be a key factor.
“Right now, China is not exactly thrilled about signing it,” Trump stated, acknowledging ongoing tensions surrounding the proposed transaction. “We have a deal with some very good people, some very rich companies that would do a great job with it,” he added, hinting at potential U.S.-based buyers.
While Trump did not specify which companies are involved, previous reports have linked tech giants and investment firms to the negotiations. The TikTok deal has been at the center of a broader U.S.-China standoff over data security and digital sovereignty.
“We're going to have to wait and see what's going to happen with China,” Trump said, suggesting that the administration is monitoring Beijing’s next move closely. “It’s on the table, very much,” he concluded, keeping the possibility of a deal alive.
