By a Staff Reporter: International Women's Day is celebrated on 8th March every year. The earlier name of this day was 'International Working Women's Day'. Behind the celebration of this day is the history of the struggle for the rights of women workers. In 1857, women workers of yarn factories took to the streets of New York, USA to protest against wage discrimination, fixed working hours, and inhumane working conditions. And there is great tension around this protest.

In that procession, the torture of government forces continued. Later, on February 28, 1909, the first international women's conference was held under the leadership of German socialist leader Clara Zetkin at a women's rally organized by the Social Democratic Women's Organization in New York. Then in 1910, the Second International Women's Conference was held in Copenhagen, Denmark. At this conference, Clara first proposed that March 8 be celebrated as International Women's Day every year. Well, since 1911 AD, the day has been celebrated as Women's Equality Day.

Different countries come forward to celebrate the day. Then in 1975, international recognition was given on March 8. United Nations took special initiative to observe the day. Various states were called by the United Nations. Since this call of the United Nations, the day is being celebrated all over the world. The day is celebrated with the aim of reiterating the conviction of women's equal rights. Countries around the world celebrate International Women's Day with due dignity.
