There have been incidents of violence in Bengal ahead of the Panchayat Vote 2023. Panchayat polls in the state are scheduled to be held on July 8. Considering the current situation in Bengal, the Calcutta High Court ordered that panchayat polls be held under the supervision of central forces. About this now CM Mamata Banerjee says, "Bengal police is more efficient than the police of any state. Only four booths were disrupted. There has never been such a peaceful nomination before. In Tripura, many are not allowed to contest elections in 96 per cent of the seats. Out of 71,000 booths in our state, only four booths have been damaged, of which two of our own people have died, yet all the central government agencies have united against us.”
