Do you think it is possible to exchange a Rs 2000 currency note at a fuel station after asking for diesel or petrol worth Rs 100 to Rs 500 ? Ideally, may be, but logically it may not be possible.
And here lies the catch 22 situation. John Mukherjee, who runs one of the biggest fuel stations in south Kolkata mentioned about the dilemma. ``Customers are coming with Rs 2000 currency notes and asking for change after ordering fuel worth Rs 100 or Rs 200. We cannot refuse customers, but people will also have to understand,'' he added.
ANM News spoke to one such customer Sanjeev Ghosh and he said,``There are massive queues in banks. I have to fill up fuel in my two and four wheelers. It's lot more easier to relieve the Rs 2000 currency notes at the fuel stations.''
