By A Staff Reporter: Tax payers are our partners. The budget is about growth and employment of the country. Lot of schemes for youth and we are trying to do 4.9 percent fiscal deficit. The revenue is trying to mirror those things and government is trying to simplify the taxes.

This was revealed by union revenue secretary Sanjay Malhotra during an interaction with the trade and industry in Kolkata. Explaining the government policy, Malhotra said that capital gains taxes have been made simpler, fairer and equitable. The union revenue secretary acknowledged some areas of concern raised by trade bodies and advocates and expressed hope that the issues will be sorted out.

Chief commissioner GST Shrawan Kumar presided over the programme, which was also attended by chief commissioner Customer, MM Singh, principal chief commissioner Income Tax, KN Dixit and director investigations of Income Tax, Praveen Kumar.
