Tax evasion in Kolkata is Rs 1300 crores: DGGI

According to senior officials, evaders continue to produce fake bills and forged invoices to commit the fraud.

BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a sensational revelation, the Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) has unearthed a tax evasion of whopping Rs 1300 crores of rupees in the last three months in the Kolkata region.

Speaking exclusively to ANM News, a senior DGGI official mentioned that about Rs 250 crores were recovered instantly and rest of the amount is pending and authorities are trying to catch the evaders. According to senior officials, evaders continue to produce fake bills and forged invoices to commit the fraud.

The union finance ministry is trying their best to educate the evaders and come up with schemes as well as strict and harsh punishments but have so far not been able to scale down the tax evasion amount from last few years.
