BY A STAFF REPORTER: Amid the Lok Sabha elections, the Delhi High Court on Monday dismissed a plea seeking Prime Minister Narendra Modi's disqualification for allegedly soliciting votes on religious grounds.

The Apex Court stated petition is thoroughly misconceived and the court can't direct ECI to take a particular view on any complaint.

The petition alleged that PM Modi, while addressing a rally in Uttar Pradesh's Pilibhit, sought votes appealing to the voters to vote for his party in the name of Hindu deities and Hindu places of worship as well as Sikh deities and Sikh places of worship.

Advocate Sidhant Kumar spoke for ECI and opposed the plea, noting that the organization deals with such applications on a daily basis and will take appropriate action under the law. He has filed the representation, which we shall process. The commission is a constitutional entity.
