Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Urban Development Minister Ponguru Narayana has announced a fresh approach to developing the Amaravati Capital City, with a substantial budget allocation of Rs 60,000 crore. Addressing the media, Narayana disclosed that a committee of Chief Engineers was established in July to assess construction activities carried out between 2014 and 2019. This panel has since submitted a comprehensive report, based on which the government has decided to close all previous tenders linked to the capital’s development.

“We formed a committee of Chief Engineers in July to thoroughly review the past construction work and its progress over the years,” Narayana said. “Now that we have their report, all previous tenders have been closed, and we’ll start afresh with new tenders to ensure that Amaravati’s development is completed as envisioned.”

The redevelopment plans are ambitious, with one of the major components involving the construction of a 360-kilometer trunk road network, which is expected to enhance connectivity across the capital city. The state government has earmarked a total of Rs 60,000 crore to cover various infrastructure projects in Amaravati, which will support urban development and economic growth.

Minister Narayana emphasized that the fresh tendering process will incorporate the latest engineering and urban planning standards. The government aims to address past shortcomings while advancing new infrastructure with greater efficiency and transparency. The minister’s statements underscore the renewed commitment to making Amaravati a world-class capital, supporting Andhra Pradesh’s future aspirations as an economic and cultural hub.

The decision to restart tenders also aligns with the state’s broader vision for urbanization, aiming to attract investments and boost employment through enhanced infrastructure. The redevelopment, once underway, will include residential zones, commercial areas, and essential facilities, adding momentum to Amaravati’s ongoing transformation.
