Delhi: Celebrated music composer AR Rahman received the prestigious 'Best Music Direction (Background Score)' award for his outstanding work in Ponniyin Selvan: Part I during the ongoing 70th National Film Awards. In a heartfelt statement, Rahman expressed his gratitude, stating, "This award is special and it is my seventh National Film Award. My first National Film Award was for the film Roja with Mani Ratnam. This film is also with him."

Reflecting on his collaboration with director Mani Ratnam, Rahman added, "Whenever I work with him, it is very special; he gets the best out of all of us."
