Delhi: The Rouse Avenue Court has granted the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) a four-day custodial remand for the six individuals arrested in connection with the tragic Old Rajinder Nagar incident, where three IAS aspirants drowned due to severe flooding.

The court's decision came after a detailed hearing, during which the CBI argued the need for custodial interrogation to thoroughly investigate the circumstances leading to the incident. The investigative agency highlighted the necessity of determining the roles and responsibilities of the accused in causing or failing to prevent the flooding that resulted in the loss of three young lives.

"The custodial remand is crucial for a comprehensive investigation of the case and to ascertain the roles of those involved," the court stated, underscoring the importance of a thorough inquiry to ensure accountability and justice for the victims.

The incident, which occurred in Old Rajinder Nagar, a prominent area frequented by students preparing for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) exams, has sparked significant public outcry and demands for a thorough investigation. The flooding, caused by heavy rains, led to waterlogging that tragically resulted in the drowning of the three aspirants.

The CBI, now armed with the court's approval for custodial remand, will seek to uncover the series of events and decisions that led to this unfortunate incident. The investigation aims to identify any lapses or negligence that contributed to the tragedy, ensuring those responsible are held accountable.
