NEW DELHI – Punjab Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Bhagwant Mann took a sharp dig at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over its stance on welfare schemes, accusing it of hypocrisy. Speaking at a poll rally in Greater Kailash, Mann highlighted how BJP first criticized AAP’s free services but later announced similar benefits.
"They (BJP) said that free 'revadis' were being distributed and criticized Kejriwal for providing free water, free electricity, free education, free medical services, and free bus rides for women. However, Kejriwal then announced that he would also provide ₹2,100 to women as 'Mahila Samman Rashi'. Later, they themselves promised to distribute ₹2,500 to women. This means our ₹2,100 is a 'revadi', but their ₹2,500 is a free 'papad'," Mann remarked, taking a jibe at the BJP’s changing stance.

AAP has been defending its subsidy-driven governance model, arguing that free electricity, education, and healthcare are necessary public welfare measures. BJP, on the other hand, has frequently criticized such schemes as "freebies" that allegedly burden the economy. However, BJP’s recent promise of ₹2,500 monthly assistance for women has drawn comparisons to AAP’s welfare policies.
