ECI Appoints New Election Commissioners

BY A STAFF REPORTER: Days after Election Commissioner Arun Goel resigned, two new election commissioners. Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu were welcomed by Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar on 15th March, Friday. 

The newly appointed Election Commissioners are Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu. Furthermore, the members of the Commission were appointed after the recommendations of the Selection Committee led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and consisting of Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary. However, Chowdhary revealed that he was not satisfied with the new appointees.

The appointment comes ahead of upcoming Lok Sabha Elections which are expected to be held in April-May. Moreover, former Election Commissioner Arun Goel tendered his resignation on March 10.
