Chandigarh: Amid ongoing discussions over agricultural policies, farmer leaders met Union Minister Pralhad Joshi in Chandigarh on Wednesday, reiterating their demand for a legal guarantee on Minimum Support Price (MSP). The meeting, which is part of a series of negotiations between the government and farmers, saw contrasting views on MSP and inflation.
Speaking about the discussions, farmer leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said, "A meeting was held with Union Minister Pralhad Joshi. He said that their government since 2014 has increased MSP by 58%. However, we told them that the inflation under their government has increased by 59%."
Pandher emphasized that farmers are firm on their demand for a legally binding MSP law. "We told them that the government should make a law for MSP. He told us that the government wants to keep holding talks with us," he added.
