Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman outlined key features of the 2024 Budget, particularly the emphasis on capital expenditure. She stated that the government has committed to sustaining capital expenditure at Rs 11.11 lakh crore, continuing the trend from previous years. This includes Rs 1.5 lakh crore allocated as interest-free capital assistance to states for 50 years.

Sitharaman also noted that when considering effective capital expenditure, the figure could reach Rs 15.02 lakh crore, marking an 18% increase over the 2023-24 budget. This focus on capital investment underscores the government's long-term strategy for infrastructure development and economic growth.
