Jammu: In a press conference held in Jammu, GOC 10 Infantry Division Major General Sameer Srivastava discussed the successful operation that led to the neutralization of three terrorists linked to a recent attack in Akhnoor. “We conducted a very successful operation where we neutralized three terrorists. I am thankful to all the security forces,” he stated, expressing gratitude for their dedication and effectiveness in the field.
Highlighting the crucial role of community involvement, Srivastava noted that the operation was informed by timely intelligence from local residents. “We receive the information immediately from the people there as soon as someone new enters the area. This time too, we received the information and we acted accordingly,” he explained. This collaborative approach not only enhances operational efficiency but also fosters trust between the security forces and the local population.
Tragically, the operation came at a cost, as Srivastava revealed that one army dog lost its life during the search operation. He honored the canine’s sacrifice, stating, “He has sacrificed his life because of whom a lot of lives were saved.” This poignant remark underscores the often-overlooked contributions of military animals in ensuring the safety of civilians and security personnel alike.
The GOC’s comments reinforce the ongoing commitment of the Indian Army to maintaining peace and security in the region while highlighting the importance of collaboration with local communities in combating terrorism. As the situation evolves, the Indian Army continues to adapt its strategies, ensuring that both human and animal sacrifices are honored in their mission to safeguard the nation.
