BY A STAFF REPORTER: In a significant move, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee addressed a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the alleged Aadhar deactivation of West Bengal residents on 19th February, Monday.
Detailing the entire incident, Banerjee vehemently condemned the 'reckless' deactivation of Aadhar cards and how they are targeting SCs, STs, and minorities. Moreover, she mentioned that the deactivation process is a gross violation of Regulation 29(1) of Aadhar (Enrollment and Update). She further urged PM Modi to reveal the cause of the alleged deactivation process.
Furthermore, Mamata Banerjee announced the Aadhar Grievance Portal for the West Bengal government and guaranteed that the Aadhar card will be re-issued to those whose Aadhar has been deactivated.
