By A Staff Reporter: Manipur is burning and Centre is to blamed, according to retired generals, civil servants, and people from across various communities. A former Lt General of Indian Army, L Nishikanta Singh has compared the state of affairs with that of situations currently happening in Syria, Lebanon and Middle East. There are not many takers for chief minister Biren Singh’s contention that outsiders are fomenting trouble. How are the miscreants and outsiders managing to burn houses and kill people in the capital? How are his own ministers and union minister’s houses are vandalised ? How are arms and ammunitions flowing freely in the hills and valley? Everyone in Manipir complains about a complete breakdown in law and order. Local residents and BJP leaders argued that in such a state of affairs, Centre would have imposed President’s rule. But strangely there is no such move from the Centre so far and instead security forces alleged that Biren’s supporters are targeting Assam Rifles. How long will Centre remain quiet and allow Manipur to burn is the million dollar question uppermost in the minds of local people.
