Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the impact of the Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana (PMMY), describing it as a “strong pillar of support” for India’s micro and small entrepreneurs over the past decade.
In a statement reflecting on the scheme’s progress, Singh said, “In the last 10 years, Pradhan Mantri MUDRA Yojana has emerged as a strong pillar of support for India’s micro and small entrepreneurs. It has opened doors to credit, encouraged risk-taking and enabled millions, especially women, to start their own ventures.”

Launched in 2015, the MUDRA scheme provides collateral-free loans to non-corporate, non-farm small and micro enterprises. The initiative has played a critical role in promoting entrepreneurship at the grassroots level, particularly among women, youth, and marginalized communities.
