Odisha Prepares for Cyclone 'Dana' with Disaster Management Measures

Puri, Odisha — As Cyclone 'Dana' approaches, Puri District Magistrate Siddharth Shankar Swain assured the public that comprehensive disaster management measures have been implemented to ensure safety. Speaking on the preparedness, Swain confirmed that all necessary instructions have been issued by the state government, and a meeting with the District Disaster Department has been conducted to coordinate efforts across various departments.

"All instructions have been given by the state government to deal with the Dana cyclone. A meeting of the District Disaster Department was also held in this regard, which included all departments," Swain said, emphasizing that all departments have been briefed on their roles and responsibilities.

Special focus has been placed on vulnerable areas, with departmental officers being deployed to oversee arrangements. To enhance response capabilities, 17 fire brigade teams will be stationed across the district, with National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) teams also on standby.

"We have 179 shelters and 370 additional shelters ready," Swain added, stressing the readiness of the shelters for those in need of evacuation.

Additionally, a state government advisory has been issued for tourists, urging them to follow safety guidelines and avoid vulnerable locations during the cyclone.
