New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at the TV9 Summit in Delhi, highlighted India’s remarkable economic growth, crediting structural reforms and strong governance for the nation’s rise as a global economic powerhouse.
“Today, the world’s focus is on India. Wherever you go, people are curious about India’s growth. How did a country that was the world’s 11th largest economy for 70 years rise to the 5th position in just 7-8 years?” PM Modi said.
Citing the latest International Monetary Fund (IMF) data, Modi emphasized that India is the only major economy to have doubled its GDP in the last decade. “In the past 10 years, India has added $2 trillion to its economy,” he stated, underscoring the rapid pace of development under his leadership.
The Prime Minister stressed that economic growth is not just about numbers but has tangible impacts on people’s lives. “Doubling the GDP has led to significant social transformation, including lifting 25 crore people out of poverty and bringing them into the neo-middle class,” he added.
India’s economic surge has drawn global attention, with the government focusing on key sectors like manufacturing, digital economy, and infrastructure to sustain this momentum. Experts believe that continued policy reforms and investment-friendly initiatives will further strengthen India’s position as a global economic leader.
