New Delhi, April 4 — Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday attended the 261st Raising Day celebrations of the Army Medical Corps (AMC) at the Army Hospital (Research & Referral) in Delhi Cantonment. The event marked over two and a half centuries of dedicated medical service by the AMC in support of India’s armed forces.
In his address, Singh commended the AMC for its unwavering commitment to providing high-quality healthcare to soldiers, both in peacetime and during combat operations. He encouraged the Corps to continuously evolve by integrating the latest technologies and medical innovations into their systems.
“There is an urgent need to adopt modern medical technologies to enhance the efficiency and reach of health services offered to our brave soldiers,” he said. “At the same time, we must also aim to develop such technologies with dual-use potential—applicable in both defence and civilian healthcare.”
Highlighting the importance of synergy between military and civilian sectors, Singh underscored the role of civil-military convergence in national development. He noted that shared innovation and collaboration between these domains would significantly boost the country’s technological self-reliance and healthcare resilience.
