Mumbai | Congress MP Shashi Tharoor on Thursday hailed Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj as an extraordinarily compelling historical figure, whose story continues to captivate readers across India. Speaking at the launch event of ‘The Wild Warfare’, a biography on the Maratha warrior, Tharoor highlighted the significance of bringing history to life for modern audiences.
"Shivaji himself is an extraordinarily interesting figure to read about," Tharoor remarked. "It is no surprise when Vishwas ji tells me that the book is flourishing in every Indian language. I think it is the hunger of our people to see their past come alive."

He also noted the varied interpretations of Shivaji’s life and legacy over time. "We all know that Shivaji Maharaj has gone through various national renditions... We had different interpretations in Maharashtra itself," he said, alluding to how different historical and political perspectives have shaped his image over centuries.
The biography, The Wild Warfare, authored by Vishwas Patil, explores Shivaji’s military strategies, governance, and leadership.
